JOB TITLE HR Specialist-Training & Development & Employee Engagement
DEPARTMENT HR/Admin Department
REPORTING TO: Senior Manager HR/Admin
Summary
The HR Specialist - Training & Development & Employee Engagement is responsible for designing and implementing
training programs and engagement initiatives tailored to the packaging industry in Nigeria. This role focuses on
enhancing employee skills, improving productivity, and fostering a positive workplace culture to drive organizational
success. The specialist will work closely with employees, managers, and leadership to ensure alignment with business
goals and industry-specific requirements.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Training & Development:
- Conduct training needs assessments to identify skill gaps and development opportunities specific to
the packaging industry.
- Design, develop, and deliver training programs tailored to technical, operational, and soft skills relevant
to packaging manufacturing and operations.
- Collaborate with department heads to create role-specific training modules, including safety protocols,
machinery operation, and quality control.
- Implement onboarding programs for new hires to ensure a smooth transition into the organization.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, assessments, and performance
metrics.
2. Employee Engagement:
- Develop and execute employee engagement strategies to boost morale, motivation, and job
satisfaction.
- Organize team-building activities, wellness programs, and social events to foster a positive work
environment.
- Conduct regular employee surveys and feedback sessions to assess engagement levels and identify
areas for improvement.

- Implement recognition and reward programs to celebrate employee achievements and contributions.
3. Communication & Culture Building:
- Promote the organization’s mission, vision, and values through consistent communication and
engagement initiatives.
- Act as a liaison between employees and management to address concerns and foster open
communication.
- Develop internal communication strategies to keep employees informed about company updates,
policies, and initiatives.
4. Performance Support:
- Collaborate with the Performance Management team to align training and engagement initiatives
with performance goals.
- Provide coaching and support to managers on how to engage and motivate their teams effectively.
5. Compliance & Best Practices:
- Ensure all training and engagement programs comply with local labor laws, safety regulations, and
industry standards.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in training, development, and employee
engagement.
RequirementsQualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Organizational Psychology, Business Administration, or a related
field.
- Proven experience in training, development, and employee engagement, preferably in the manufacturing
or packaging industry.
- Strong knowledge of training methodologies, adult learning principles, and engagement strategies.
- Familiarity with safety standards and compliance requirements in the packaging industry.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in HR software and tools (e.g., LMS, survey platforms).
- Certification in HR (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) or training is a plus
